    What is Botox?

Botox is a treatment where we inject  Neuromodulators into the skin. The usual doses in this region are 15 to 20 BU (Botox Units), which are injected 1 to 1.5 cm intervals along the horizontal crease in the neck, but the nurses tell us that some patients can do well with less units and some (often males) may require more.

The neuromodulators temporarily reduce the constant movement of neck muscles which causes wrinkles. The treatment delivers predictable and suitable results within a few days.

    How does it work?

The extent of muscle movement is assessed both in facial animation and at rest prior to the injection. The Botox neuromodulators  are then injected properly in the centre of the forehead which temporarily relaxes the muscles from their constant movement; reducing the appearance of wrinkles on the face leaving skin with a youthful look.

Neuromodulators are injected with ultra-fine needles targeting the wrinkled area. Botox works by blocking the nerve signals temporarily to stop the facial muscles from contracting.

    Visibility of result

When injected properly, the results can be seen right after the first treatment however botox takes approximately 2-4 days and the effects of it last up to at least 3 months.

    Is Botox painful?

Botox is not painful however the pain and discomfort depends on the patient’s pain threshold for needles and if necessary, the patient can be given a numbing agent to reduce any discomfort experienced.

What to expect during the treatment:

During the treatment you might feel a little discomfort from the pricking of needles. The treatment does not require any anesthesia. Most people can even get the treatment done during their lunch breaks and are able to go right back to work after their appointment.

Botox is traditionally used for reducing wrinkles caused by excessive movement by the underlying muscles. It also helps in reduction of excessive sweating in certain areas of the body.
