The transverse creases in the forehead are caused by the contraction of paired frontalis muscles, which helps you raise your eyebrows and eyelids. These muscles lose their elasticity over time, combined with some environmental factors like sun exposure causes wrinkles in the centre of the forehead. However the main cause of forehead line remains to be the decrease in the production of collagen and elastin.

In some patients, the transverse creases are a result of brow ptosis. Brow ptosis occurs when your brows drop lower than normal, giving your eyes a droopy look. In such cases, patients request neurotoxins which improves this condition.

    What is Botox?

Botox injection has neuromodulators that stop the muscles from contracting and relaxes those muscles giving you a wrinkle free face. The treatment delivers predictable and suitable results within a few days.

The usual doses in this region are 10 to 20 BU (Botox Units), but the nurses tell us that some patients can do well with as little as 10 units and some (often males) may require more.

    How does it work?

The extent of muscle movement is assessed both in facial animation and at rest prior to the injection. The Botox neuromodulators  are then injected properly in the centre of the forehead which temporarily relaxes the muscles from their constant movement; reducing the appearance of wrinkles on the face leaving skin with a youthful look.

Neuromodulators are injected with ultra-fine needles targeting the wrinkled area. Botox works by blocking the nerve signals temporarily to stop the facial muscles from contracting.

    Visibility of result

When injected properly, the results can be seen right after the first treatment however botox takes approximately 2-4 days and the effects of it last up to at least 3 months.

    Is Botox painful?

Botox is not painful however the pain and discomfort depends on the patient’s pain threshold for needles and if necessary, the patient can be given a numbing agent to reduce any discomfort experienced.

What to expect during the treatment:

During the treatment you might feel a little discomfort from the pricking of needles. The treatment does not require any anesthesia. Most people can even get the treatment done during their lunch breaks and are able to go right back to work after their appointment.
