Acupuncture Explained; How Has It Helped 3D Members?

Our 3D Members rave about the soothing effects of Acupuncture, and usually combine a monthly acupuncture session with one of the many other therapeutic treatments offered on their road to optimal wellness and stress-management.

Acupuncture is well known for its ability to alleviate pain, it also helps with Insomnia, anxiety, neck and back pain, and joint pain, some people experience improvement right after the treatment but for others it may take several sessions before they feel a change.

    The Acupuncture Treatment Process

Starting with a health assessment of 25-30 minutes, your treatment will take up-to an hour. The acupuncturist will discuss your medical history and create a plan according to your needs. After this process is complete, your treatment will begin!

The treatment starts when the acupuncturist inserts very thin, sterile needles into the skin at various depths to balance the body’s energy. The needles will stay in place for approximately 15-30 minutes.

After your first treatment you will have follow up visits consisting of a brief assessment followed by an acupuncture treatment. As a part of your treatment, your registered acupuncturist might recommend a treatment combining three additional techniques of Tui Na, Gua Sha or cupping.

    Is Acupuncture Painful?

The standard acupuncture needle is between 25mm to 50mm long and 0.25 wide (body) and 0.12mm wide (face).

The process is not painful, most clients don’t feel anything but the ones who do describe it as a tingly feeling.

    Tui Na

Tui na, which is also called “Chinese medical massage,” uses hands on manipulation designed to promote circulation and reduce pain. It uses multiple techniques like acupressure, stretching, rolling, rubbing and grasping to release tension in the myofascial tissue.

    Gua Sha

Gua sha is an ancient Chinese healing technique that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool made from metal or plastic causing your skin to appear red for 2-3 days. It improves your circulation and offers a unique approach to better health by reducing issues like chronic pain.

    Cupping therapy

cupping therapy is an ancient form of therapy that involves placing cups made from silicon on the skin in order to create suction, thus facilitating healing through increased blood flow, and furthermore, removing toxins from the body. The treatment leaves circular red marks on the skin which eventually fade in 2-5 days.
